Juvéderm® XC or Restylane® Injections

Juvéderm® XC and Restylane® are made by different companies.  Both Juvéderm® XC and Restylane® are natural cosmetic dermal fillers that restore volume and fullness to the skin to temporarily correct facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines that run from the nose to the corners of the mouth, or to plump up lips that have begun to shrink.  They are made of non-animal, gel-like hyaluronic acid (HA), a naturally occurring, hydrating substance found in your skin.  Hyaluronic acid's job is to help provide fullness and elasticity.  As you age, sunlight and other factors can reduce the amount of HA in your skin.  And as it diminishes, skin loses volume, creating unwanted facial wrinkles and folds - like those parenthesis lines around your nose and mouth.

Juvéderm® XC is manufactured using hylacross™ technology, creating a smooth-consistency gel.  It is infused with lidocaine to improve comfort during treatment.  Juvéderm® XC is the first smooth-consistency HA gel and the only HA filler that is FDA approved to last up to one year with only one treatment.

Restylane® is the world's most studied cosmetic dermal filler with more than a decade of use.  It is the world's best-selling dermal filler.  It is well tolerated and long lasting (usually around six months).  Perlane®, made by the makers of Restylane® and also composed of hyaluronic acid, has larger gel particles and is intended to be injected deeper within the skin.
