Male Breast Reduction
Gynecomastia is a medical term that comes from the Greek words for "women-like breasts." Though rarely talked about, this condition affects an estimated 40 percent to 60 percent of men.
A chest that is flatter, firmer and better contoured is achieved through male breast reduction surgery to remove fat and/or glandular tissue from the breasts. If excess glandular tissue is the primary cause of the enlarged breast, Dr. O'Daniel will make an incision in an inconspicuous location - on the edge of the areola or under the arm - and cut away excess tissue, fat and skin. if excessive fatty tissue is the primary culprit, Dr. O'Daniel will likely use liposuction to remove the excess fat, vacuuming it out through a hollow tube that he inserts into a small, quarter-inch incision.
This procedure is done on an outpatient basis in our state-of-the-art, office-based Ambulatory Surgery Center, and the patient is back to work in 3-7 days.
