Chin Augmentation
The harmonious face shows a balance between the chin and other facial features. Chin augmentation can improve a patient's profile by bringing the reshaped chin into balance with the rest of the face. In fact, this surgery is often performed at the same time as rhinoplasties and facelifts.
To achieve facial proportion, Dr. O'Daniel may recommend chin surgery to a patient having nose surgery as the size of the chin may magnify or minimize the perceived size of the nose.
He uses one of two techniques for adding prominence and contour to the chin, depending on the individual patient. One technique requires moving the chinbone forward and wiring it into position. With the other, more common approach, Dr. O'Daniel inserts a chin implant through incisions inside the mouth or underneath the chin. Dr. O'Daniel frequently combines fat injections with chin augmentation to achieve a complete restoration of the peri-oral tissues.
Both techniques are performed on an outpatient basis, and have a quick recovery.
