I had two surgeries. Initially, I had the face lift
. The day of the face lift, I had to arrive at the surgery center at 6am, the surgery as 7:30am. The actual surgical case lasted about five hours and I was recovery room about an hour and a half. It’s real important that you have somebody take you to the surgery as well as bring you home from the surgery. It’s also important to have somebody spend the night with you, at least the first night.
When I came home, I didn’t have any nausea from the anesthesia, no vomiting. I had minimal pain. I only took one or two pain medicines the whole post-op period. The main problem I had was swelling. The facial swelling started to happen the next morning and it peaked about day three. I have some claustrophobia so having to wear the jaw bra was very uncomfortable for me, so Dr. O’Daniel was very helpful and called in some medicine to help with the swelling as well as my anxiety. By day five, the swelling had markedly decreased. I was no longer needing to take the medication, and by day ten, I was able to return to work as a dermatologist.
