Inital Consultation with Dr. O'Daniel
When I went in for the initial consultation, Dr. O’Daniels would use some various tools. One was, of course, the computer, and he took a lot of pictures. Then he would explain in those pictures through some kind of computer enhancement how those features would change and how I would be able to see a difference over time what he could do. He explained it in a way though that it just simply made sense and he didn’t, I guess, man to man, it was like, “These are the things you can expect, and these are the things I can’t do. With that, you’re able to make a decision as what kind of procedure do you want to do.”
Getting started with Dr. O'Daniel
I had several friends that had used Dr. O’Daniel in the past, and they told me about their experience with him. I chose Dr. O’Daniels based off their recommendation. The first step for me was to call and get a consultation, which I did. I was very pleased with his manner and the things that he told me he could help me with, some of the things that he said he could do. He didn’t make my expectations so high that they weren’t reachable. From there, he gave me a time table on how this would all proceed. This would be a process that would be done over a course of months, and we would start doing certain things first, and then other things later.
There were times that I had to re-evaluate what my expectations were and how I would get to where I wanted to be. Based on what my friends had told me who had used him in the past that I would be very happy with the results, and I was, and very comfortable with his manner. He explained things in a way that very easy to understand, and led me to believe that this process would work, we would get to where I wanted to be. Some of the things I had done were a lift of the eyebrows, a lift of the area on the left and right hand side of my mouth. The thing I guess was that most dramatic was the skin laser that removed a lot of the age spots or browning from around the face.
What happened on the day of surgery?
The day of surgery there’s a little bit of prep. The night before you have to fast. They’re going to put you under. You’re a little apprehensive, not a great deal. He puts you at ease when he comes into the room and tells you exactly what he’s going to do. It’s a little funny sometimes. He has a magic marker and he paints your face and he shows you a mirror of your face painted with the magic marker where he’s going to make incisions and things he’s going to do. The apprehension is taken away pretty quickly with his mannerisms and his professionalism. He’s done this before. You do feel at ease.
Recovery from surgery
The day after surgery probably is the most uncomfortable. I wouldn’t say … It’s not painful. None of the process is painful, but it’s uncomfortable. I kind of relate it to a bad sunburn. The second day, a remarkable amount of relief from that and each day it just gets quicker and quicker, the amount of recovery. After about a week, a lot of the swelling is gone. You’re back to your normal routine in the shower. Actually, you’re back in the shower after a couple of days. In about a week, you’re back to your normal routine. A couple weeks later, even more. Then about six weeks, you’re back to normal. Most of the swelling is gone. In fact, all the swelling is gone after six weeks. Most of it’s gone after a week. There’s no pain. I wouldn’t call it pain. I’d call it more of a discomfort, like a sunburn.
Final thoughts on Dr. O'Daniel
Choosing Dr. O’Daniels for me was kind of a lengthy process. I talked to others who he had done work on and they were very happy. I also had gone to two other plastic surgeons in the area before I chose who was going to do the work. What sold me on Dr. O’Daniel’s
, one of the many things that sold me on Dr. O’Daniels, was his mannerisms, his professionalism, his reputation, and his ability to explain it to me in such a way that I understood it and could appreciate exactly the entire process and what I was going to look like and when I was going to end up where I wanted to be.
